The big TV manufacturers are preparing to launch 3DTV and 3D blu-ray, that is said to be available as early as 2010. Currently two main technologies are being pursued including a system where the watcher wears a pair of active-shutter glasses that open each side in conjunction with the correct on-screen image, which is backed by Panasonic and Sony. Sky are behind another glasses technology, but this time a passive polarised type. Some manufacturers such as Philips, bruised by previous format wars are readying both formats.
